[Enjoy the music]

There are a few songs that have a direct impact on my well being. One of those songs came up in rotation on my computer...

The first time I heard this song was at a time of great love being expressed. It was the song that Gary and Melissa danced to at their wedding. "The Promise" by Tracy Chapman. Since that time, I cannot hear that song without seeing them dance, without feeling the love that was in the room that night. It is one of those songs that can make me think about love. It is one of those songs that can make that small whole in my heart grow larger. I know that that reaction is in direct opposition to my earlier statement about feeling love, but for some reason that is the physical reaction I get when I hear that song.

The other song that gives me a similar reaction with a bit more of a hopeful spin is a silly little tune from a soundtrack of a silly little film. Now for you music purists I know that you will tell me the origins of this song and that it is not from the soundtrack, but was adapted for the soundtrack. I know you would be correct, but I really don't feel like researching the origins of the song. What I want to explore is the origins of the song for me. Savuka's "Dela" from the George of the Jungle Soundtrack. I first heard this song in the movie. Now that movie was not a feat of cinematic bliss, but geez, I would be lying if I said that Brendan Frazier didn't do it for me. But anyways...The song is featured at the scene where George is trying to get Ursula to dance. He starts dancing like a monkey around a campfire. Slowly she realizes that it is okay to act ridiculous, especially in the jungle with a man dressed in nothing but a loincloth. At one point in the scene, there is a close up of Brendan's eyes. He has very intense eyes, even in a loincloth. It is something about that look that I remember every time I hear the song. It is that type of deep connection conveyed by the look that I crave for in my life. The hole in my heart is less, but still it is there...

So how is that for a diary entry? I haven't written a long entry for a long time. It was just something about these songs today that sparked all of this. Hope you all are well.
